Salish Sea Crafts

Sell your craft on Salish Sea Crafts

A marketplace built for San Juan Islands artisans. Transparent pricing, no surprises, and a community that actually cares about handmade work.

Simple, transparent pricing

We charge one fee. 10% of each sale — and that covers everything. No listing fees. No monthly subscription. No forced advertising. Just a single percentage that only applies when you make a sale.

Example: On a $100 sale, you receive $90. We keep $10 — which covers payment processing, platform operations, and everything listed below.

What the 10% covers

Our fee isn't just a platform tax — it covers real services that would cost you more to piece together on your own.

  • Payment processing

Stripe handles all card processing, fraud detection, and secure payouts directly to your bank.

  • Fraud & chargeback protection

Stripe's built-in fraud tools protect you from fraudulent orders and disputed charges.

  • Order management

A full maker dashboard to track orders, update status, and add tracking numbers.

  • Automated email notifications

Buyers and makers both receive order confirmations and shipping updates automatically.

  • Marketplace exposure

Your products are discoverable by buyers searching for handmade San Juan Islands goods.

  • Your own maker storefront

A dedicated profile page showcasing your story, your island, and all your products.

How we compare to Etsy

Etsy's headline fee is 6.5%, but that's never the full picture.

How the signup process works

From application to first sale — here's what to expect.

1

Submit your application

Tell us about your craft, your island, and your story. The application takes about 5 minutes.

2

We review your application

Our team reviews every application for quality and fit — usually within 48 hours. We look for genuine handcrafted work made on the San Juan Islands.

3

Approval notification

If approved, you'll receive an email with a link to complete your account setup.

4

Set up Stripe payments

Stripe's secure onboarding collects your identity, bank account, and tax information (W-9 for US sellers). This is required by federal law — earnings over $600/year are reported to the IRS via 1099-K.

5

List your products and start selling

Add your products, set your prices, and your shop goes live. You keep 90% of every sale.

Tax & legal note

Stripe collects your tax information (W-9 for US sellers, W-8 for non-US) as part of their onboarding. This is required by federal law. Salish Sea Crafts — as a marketplace facilitator — is required to report earnings of $600 or more per year to the IRS via Form 1099-K. Stripe handles this reporting on our behalf. You are responsible for reporting your income and paying applicable taxes.
